LATEST UPDATES OF SUPER REDS
20th May 2009 (Wednesday)
12th Match
Venue: Yishun Stadium
Super Reds vs Gombak Utd
Result 3 – 1 (Win)
Super Reds upstaged Gombak with a comeback 3-1 victory at Yishun Stadium making it a 3 wins & 2 draws at home as Super Reds kicked their 12th match of the 33 League matches season. Gombak score on 17 minutes through current S League top scorer No 20 Ojimi Gabriel Obatola (11 goals). No 10 Kim Yoon Sik levelled for the Korean side on 35 minutes with a powerful low shot through a sea of defenders.
No 15 Park Kang Jin then scored the 2nd goals in the 54 minutes wich he outpaced Bulls captain Sevki Sha'ban, it was a nice through pass from no 22 Park Han Seok whom received a dummy pass from No 9 Lee Du Ri. No 22 Park Han Seok sealed the result on 74 minutes when he was left unmarked inside the box to collect a pass from No 6 Choi Dong Soo whom dribble passed 2 defenders from the side line to the Bull penalty box byline and passed a wonderful ball to the unmarked Super Reds current top scorer (5 goals) Park.
Super Reds were reduced to ten men in the 84 minutes as the match grew more and more heated, No 15 Park Kang Jin was send off after receiving his 2 yellow cards of the night. This incident happened as Super Reds Captain No 8 Yu Hyun Koo was foul and kicked at his leg but however the referees did not stop the play and Gombak continue to attack while Super Reds captain still laying on the ground. It was an unsporting behaviour from the current league table 1st runner up. Super Reds play well and they held on comfortably to defend Gombak 3 – 1 at home.
After the match, I think not only me but the rest of the crowd whom had watch the game feel that Gombak No 9 Agu should have been booked once as he had committed at least 5 fouls on Super Reds players. Gombak No 8 Ruhaizad Ismail should have been given his marching order for challenging the referees on 3 occasions after his 1st yellow cards. There was one incident whereby the yellow card issued to Bull No 10 Theerawekin Seehawong was wrongfully given as the culprit for bringing Super Reds No 12 Kim Tae Young down with a unfair hash tackle is No 20 Ojimi Gabriel Obatola who had been booked 3 minutes before for an unprofessional foul on Super Reds No 1 Kang Su Ho and not no 10 Theerawekin Seehawong. Sad to say, the referee’s standard is still not up to mark and protecting of local team players more to foreign team
players bias still exist. However the miss judgment by the referee is part and parcel of the beauty of the game all over the world.
